Easter 50 Challenge 2023 · 1 April 2023 ·

Anyone can get Parkinson’s. It gets worse over time and there’s no cure. Yet. Funding research into the most promising treatments, we’re getting closer to a cure. Until then, we're improving life for people with Parkinson’s, and the people in their lives. Together we'll find a cure.

Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit our JustGiving page.

Luke's Dad was diagnosed with Parkinson's back in 2014 and Rob's mother-in-law was diagnosed a little earlier. Parkinson's is a debilitating disease that throws up new challenges and problems each and every day. Living with Parkinson's is a continuous battle, and watching a loved one struggle with the condition is really hard.

We (five friends from the University of Leicester) will be walking 50km on April 1st to raise money for Parkinson’s UK. Starting at Royal Windsor Racecourse, we will head to Runnymede, through the Windsor Estate and on to Dorney Reach before looping back round to the Royal Windsor Racecourse. We hope to complete the challenge in 9-10 hours.

Parkinson's is a progressive neurological condition. It causes problems in the brain and gets worse over time. People with Parkinson's don't have enough of the chemical dopamine in their brain because some of the nerve cells that make it have died. It is the fastest growing neurological condition in the world.

There are lots of different treatments, therapies and support available to help manage the condition. Researchers worldwide are working hard to develop new and better treatments - and one day a cure.

Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure. Once you donate, they'll send your money directly to the charity.

We know that times are tough and we hugely appreciate each and every donation, large or small.
