I've slightly changed the goal posts with this challenge now. I'll now be competing in two triathlons on top of the marathon. The first being Staffordshire Half Ironman on 10th June 2018. Then I'll be travelling out to Germany, to compete in the Hamburg Ironman. 29th July 2018. I've never competed in any triathlons before, throwing myself in the deep with this one. A full Ironman consists of a 2.4mile Swim, 112mile bike ride, followed by a full marathon 26.2miles. This leads to a total distance of 140.6miles or 226km.
Part one of three, of the challenge is now done. Brighton Marathon was completed in 3hrs 36mins 59secs. Two days after this I was back in the pool training towards the final goal of Hamburg.

I’ve seen the effects that Cancer can have. Not only is it a physical and mental battle for the people involved, I’ve seen the intense
stress it can put on their loved ones.
Even after a successful fight with Cancer I think that the memories and scars will always remain present no matter how successful the individual’s battle finishes. Due to the fear and worry of having to face their battle again.
This is why I want to do the marathon for Cancer Research UK. As I find it inspiring the courage and determination that patients show in their fight with Cancer. Especially the mental strength they show whilst being physically drained by their treatment. They show all this despite their world as they know it changing around them.
Now a days, sadly I feel it is far too common to know someone who’s life has been affected my cancer in some way or another.
Personally, for me, I have three examples of people who’s bravery and determination have really stood out. I plan to do this marathon using their examples to motivate me to train harder knowing that what I am doing is in aid of a good cause.
I want to raise as much money as I can for a charity who’s work I feel is
invaluable and is also one close to my heart. I want to help them make as
much difference as they can.
Please donate and help me raise as much money as I can for
Cancer research UK, to enable them to make as much difference as they
can.
