Story
On April 20th, I will be travelling to Sierra Leone to spend 3 months as a volunteer with Educaid. I have spent the last two months working on developing some IT facilities for the schools, which will be particularly helpful to the older students, and will be installing a small network of donated laptops, hopefully with some satellite internet access, as my first task when I arrive. I will then help teach basic IT skills to the students.
I would like to invite you to support the work of Educaid, if you are able. Each donation, however small, will make a real difference. Trustees cover the overheads in the UK, which means that all donations can be used directly on the project.
By supporting this small but very worthwhile charity, you will be helping some of the poorest and most vulnerable young people in the world. Educaid schools provide a lifeline to over 1000 young people who have all been seriously affected by the brutal civil war, many of whom have lost their parents, homes and their hope for the future. As well as providing a free education, Educaid also provides a meal each day, often the only meal a child has, and for some children it is also their home, where they drape a mosquito net over their desks at the end of the day and sleep on the floor. Google ‘Angel of Freetown’ to read a Daily Mail article about the work of the charity and the principal, Miriam Mason-Sesay.
Justgiving makes sure 25% in Gift Aid, plus a 3% supplement, are added to your donation.
