Manchester Marathon 2021 · 10 October 2021 ·

We celebrate difference and inspire community connection. Through amazing workshops and show-stopping performances, on stage and in schools, we empower learning disabled people, of all abilities, fostering confidence, skills, and leadership potential.

Story

This October I will be running the Manchester Marathon to raise money for Electric Umbrella. This will be a huge challenge given that this time last year I couldn't run continuously for 2.5km.

Electric Umbrella is a charity extremely close to my heart. My sister Katy is a member of the group, and the weekly meetings (now online due to covid) are a highlight of her week without fail.

Electric Umbrella are challenging perceptions about people with learning disabilities, and empowering and enriching lives through the co-creation of music. A unique collaboration of adults with learning disabilities coming together with world class musicians, writers and producers to make music and perform it on any stage, anywhere. Through gigs, tours and festivals they reach audiences in excess of 20,000 people each year, with audiences upwards of 60,000 online though the release of music videos.

Thank you for supporting this challenge, your donation will make a huge difference to so many people with learning difficulties.
