Story
As you all know by now, charities across the country and globe are struggling to maintain services due to the shortfall in financial support. As a result, I feel like I should do something, but also contribute to one of the charities closest to me.
Macmillan Cancer support have supported a part of my family to get through a very difficult time, but now more than ever, even more are vulnerable as less patients are able to be cared for in this awful time.
Not only are UK Charities struggling, but so are millions more with loneliness, anxiety and many more mental aspects of this lockdown. That is one of the reasons I plan to do this challenge as I expect it to take a significant effect on my mental health, as it is 26 consecutive hours of table tennis.
As mentioned, I don’t want to just do something so I will be matching all donations in the first 24 hours (up to £100) so I hope that will give you enough motivation to take another £1, £5 or £10 out of your bank account to support a brilliant charity.
Save the UK's CharitiesGeneral fundraising has been hit very hard by the COVID-19 pandemic. Thousands of fundraising events have been cancelled and many charities, particularly smaller ones, are struggling to maintain services because of this huge reduction in income. This impacts all sectors of society from children to the elderly as well as the vital work in areas such as palliative care, serious diseases, mental health, housing support, food supplies and countless others that charities support.
