I’m running for my friend Claire - this is her story - I was first diagnosed with breast cancer in February 2014 and after a treatment program of Chemotherapy and Radiotherapy, I was given the all clear. Then in February of this year, 9 years after my initial diagnosis, I received the devastating news that I had developed secondary breast cancer in both my lungs and bones. However, I refuse to let this disease define me, and with the support from my family, friends and Oncology Team at Addenbrookes Hospital I'm doing OK and hopefully with the right medication will stay stable for many years to come. But sadly secondary breast cancer is incurable and not enough money is invested in research to find a cure .So together with my amazing team of friends and family we're challenging ourselves to run a half marathon on October 14th around Victoria Park, London - and I've even persuaded my children to run the 10k !
