Story
Hello!
I'm running the Cardiff Half Marathon in October for the Welsh Refugee Council. Now that I've begun training, 13.1 miles feels like an ever increasing distance filled with stiches, blisters and lack of oxygen and I am beginning to wonder if I'm fit enough for the challenge...
However, I have 2 months to go and there is something that will definitely spur me on making training bearable, even enjoyable... donations! So, if you are able to sponsor me as soon as you are able - any amount big or small - the higher my morale will be, meaning the more successful my training will be and the faster I'll be able to run, or let's say jog, the Cardiff half!
Why run?
Why not run would be easier to answer, however the reason for running is for the people who access the Welsh Refugee Council's services every day - asylum seekers and refugees, many new to Cardiff, some who have sought santuary in the UK but have been told they cannot stay yet cannot return home as it is unsafe to do so - some are homeless and without food, clothes or people they can rely on.
Running through the pain barrier will be worth it as money raised will go a long way - your donations will help pay for travel so that someone can apply for asylum or see their solicitor, a bed for the night, essentials to care for a new baby, food parcels and other basic necessities.
Thank you so much!
Lydia :)
