Story
On 8th September, it'll be a year since I lost my best friend in the whole wide world, my little mum. I miss her so much, so I decided to do something I know would make her laugh - and would do something positive at the same time!
Earlier this year, I set up a little foundation in her name to raise funding and awareness for Pancreatic Cancer, the illness we lost her to. Only a shocking 4% of people survive past 5 years, and only 1% of cancer research funding goes towards it - despite it being the 5th most common cancer. This means, unlike a lot of other cancers, the survival rate has hardly changed in a staggering 40 YEARS.
Pancreatic Cancer UK was a great source of information when mum was diagnosed - and I spoke to one of their Specialist Nurses for a whole hour one day, getting so much advice and support at the most isolating time in our lives.
So, as it's pancreatic cancer awareness month in November, I am going to wear fancy dress to every single day of my real life - including being in work - throughout the month, to raise money to help this fantastic charity! It seems fitting as you could say I've got a bit of experience with fancy dress!!! Being an aunty, going to Uni, work nights out and having a gang of fabulous, nutty mates seem to mean I do it a lot!! So it's quite a fitting fundraiser for my bubbly, funny, happy mum :)
So watch this space as I'll be posting pics of my crazy outfits! There will be updates on the Lydia's Love Foundation page as well as my work's blog:
