Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.

Hey guys!

Thank you again for visiting my “Climbing for cancer” page!

Over 10 years ago I was sat in a safari jeep in Tsavo east, Kenya. The guide turned to me & said can you see it? I said see what? He said the biggest tall free standing mountain in the world. Me being me said what that little mountain over there? ha! He said No dear look higher...........in the clouds! I can not begin to tell you how I felt when I first looked @ that mountain with my own eyes! I was in love!
It was from that moment I looked @ Mount Kilimanjaro & said I’m going to climb you one day. Little did I know that 11 years later that’s exactly what I’m going to do!

On the 23rd August, 2019 me & my very good friend Natashia fly to Tanzania to Challenge one of the biggest mountains in the world. Mount Kilimanjaro. We will be gone for 10 days with a company called Action Challenge. There’s 7 routes to summit Kilimanjaro & we’ve chosen a route called The Machame Route known as “the Whiskey Route” it will take us 6 days to ascend & 2.5 days to descend. We will be sleeping in tents & trekking for 7-8 hours a day.......on the actual mountain itself it’s known to have it own weather. You actually go through all 4 seasons so it’s going to be tough. There’s going to be days where we will probably want to give up buts that’s why I’m glad I’ve got a good friend to share this experience with as we will always be there to support each other when needed.
Of course we are climbing for Charity & the charity we have chosen is Breast Cancer which Is Cancer Research UK! The reason for this chosen charity is that I’ve lost loved ones including one of my best friends Sheena @ just the age of 20 & i’ve seen my loved ones lose their loved ones to this horrible disease but I’ve also seen people kick its arse! I know climbing Kili won’t stop people from losing their lives but it will help more people like my Beautiful Mum & of course my hero. My beautiful cousin Natalie beat it! Their the real hero’s & I couldn’t be any more proud of them both. They’ve shown their the real fighters & if they can beat cancer then I can summit Mount Kilimanjaro in their honour!

I’ve set this page up as it’s so much easier but I’ve also got some buckets to put in some establishments across Faversham & Sittingbourne so if you do see a bucket with our mugs on it please please donate, even if it’s just change from your beer or wine in the pub or newspaper in the paper shop! Every little bit helps! I do understand money is sometimes tight trust me it’s taking me 2 jobs & some serious saving to be able to climb this mountain & don’t even get me started on the training bit. Some days I do ask myself why am I doing this? Especially when that 4.30am alarm goes off & Running around town or sprinting along side the A249 (LOL) I even signed up to the gym which is a miracle in itself but then I remind myself it’s not just a 5k or 10k run anymore for Cancer (not that makes a difference coz no matter what you do for cancer, anything is amazing) but it’s a mountain climb. The tallest free standing mountain in the world, the roof of Africa! Then I smile & work harder.

So please please guys dig deep & let’s do this together & donate today! Let’s get near to my target as We can! The next 12 months is going to full of training, Fundraising & plenty of fun.

Thank you so much guys

Lots of Love

Lynds & Tashia xxxxxx
