A Walk in Water

In November 2018 I was diagnosed with
Motor Neurones Disease; not a positive time!

In February 2019 I started my
weekly hydrotherapy sessions with Lynn; a very positive decision and the start
of a very positive experience. Throughout the year my sessions were not only
extremely beneficial but great fun, laughter and positivity going hand in
hand.

I also learnt about the amazing
work that LV Rehabilitation do with those who have Parkinson’s Disease. One of
the challenges planned for 2020 was a 5km swim; some doing it in stages in a
pool and others planning to tackle it in one hit swimming in the Solent,
awesome! The idea to raise money for The Cure Parkinson’s Trust.

Then came 2020! Life put in hold
whilst we all deal with Lockdown and all it continues to entail. The challenge
was postponed until 2021.

I returned to my weekly hydro
sessions at the end of July, the impact of inactivity was immediately obvious
so I decided I needed a challenge; I will try and walk 5km in the pool between
my return to hydro and the Parkinson’s challenge next year. The pool is 10 mtrs
long, so 500 lengths it is! My first week I managed 6 lengths I hope to do at
least 12 each session.

If anyone would like to sponsor
me all funds will go to The Cure Parkinson’s Trust.
