Story
Searchlight Scotland has been a foundational charity that I have volunteered with or supported for many years. Whilst the outlet for the charity has changed over the years - its aim and mission remain the same.
Searchlight has always aimed to help people live in freedom from the limitations of addiction, domestic abuse, and many other life limiting factors.
Searchlight has been involved in education about human trafficking in Scotland, and has also cared for survivors of trafficking. It has run multiple outreach programmes for the homeless community in Aberdeen,
Searchlight currently helps people in the local community through offering volunteering opportunities, and running their Aberdeen community cafe - which operates on a “pay what you can afford” basis - providing people struggling with the current financial crisis a place to eat something and get a hot drink without the worry of cost. The Searchlight cafe has provided non perishable foods for anyone who needs food for their home and family, and it has run many group activities and skills classes such as sketching, crochet, and food events. The searchlight cafe is a safe space where people can find a supportive community. The cafe has a sensory space for children and adults alike, and many people have found a warm space, a hot drink and a listening ear inside.
Any donations you can make will help Searchlight Scotland in continuing to provide a safe space and a supportive community where people can be connected, access help from other services, and discover their full potential.
Thank you!
