Our Challenge

To run a 5k without stopping on Sunday 14th June, with training 3 times a week up to the event.

Why?

At the beginning of this year, our dad and husband, Andrew, was diagnosed with melanoma skin cancer. At the same time, one of Maddy's best friend's Sophie's Mum was unfortunately diagnosed with the same thing. The last few months have been up and down to the say the least. 

Cancer treatment is developing everyday and we know that the more research that can be done into treating melanoma, the more hope we can have. Andrew is currently receiving a form of immunotherapy treatment which has so much potential so research is vital. 

SO. . . for some crazy reason we have decided to make our couch to 5k training official and (socially distancing of course) train to run 5km without stopping on Sunday 14th June. 

Some of you reading this might think that 5km is not far and this is an easy challenge. . . after our first run today it is clear that this will NOT be an easy challenge haha! Please donate to help support us through what is going to be hell! 

Our Charity

There is still more work to be done making immunotherapy as effective as possible as well as researching and developing new drugs.We have therefore chosen to fundraise for the Melonoma Research Fund, which is a specialist fund within the The Christie Charity.

The Melanoma Research Fund has supported many of the recent 
breakthroughs in the treatment of melanoma. This drug is the first new treatment for 30 years in the UK that is extending life expectancy in patients with advanced melanoma. The fund continues to support major progress in the treatment of melanoma, developing new drug treatments that are meaning more patients are likely to live longer.
