I am running for Spectrum Cambridge because autism spectrum disorder is something I didn’t know too much about until my nephew was diagnosed with autism. Watching my sister wade through all of the information and figure out their next move to make the best decisions possible for her son was and still is so hard. There is sometimes no right answer and I’m sure sometimes it can feel lonely or like others don’t understand. With a charity like this, they offer a space for those who are going through similar obstacles to meet, socialize and make friends. There is a need for both spaces.. medical support and research, but also the day to day support system, which is what Spectrum provides. I’m excited to run for my neighbors that face more than we see in the day to day. I’m running for those who feel lonely in the moment to know that they are not alone and we are always here for support. Thank you for joining on my journey to a half-marathon! I appreciate the support.
