Story
Motor Neurone Disease (MND) affects the nerves and the brain. This is caused by the gradual decline and ultimate death of a patients motor neurones.
There is no cure for MND, and no significantly effective treatment offered after diagnosis. The risk of contracting MND is 1 person in every 350 for men, and 1 person in every 450 for women. From first symptoms the life expectancy after diagnosis is on average 2 - 5 years.
Medics believe MND is curable but at present research into finding a cure for the disease is underfunded. I will be running the London Marathon in April 2023 to support Jennie Starkey in her fundraising for the Association, which is working hard to raise awareness, build research and support families effected by MND.
