Story
Thanks for taking the time to visit my page. As you may or may not know a couple of years ago I signed up to do the Race for Life 5k walk but somehow ended up doing a 10k run. I’ve finally recovered enough to do something else so it makes sense I do a 26 mile hike 😄
Why! Why would any sane person do this. Well I was diagnosed with cervical cancer five years ago. I named my tumour Sigourney Weaver and zapped her with surgery, radiotherapy and chemotherapy. No words can describe how life draining it is. It was intense and gruelling to say the least but poor old sigourney got it and disappeared. Fingers crossed for good. This is the main reason but obviously my sanity, for everyone that knows me, can be debated.
It’s five years since I was diagnosed and I’d like to give something back. A Macmillan nurse was there for me at every appointment and for so many people they are an anchor in a storm of pain and suffering. So this is my way of saying thank you and hopefully little help to enable them to carry on the work they do.
