Beat is the UK’s eating disorder charity. Our mission is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. These serious mental illnesses ruin and, too often, take lives. Our Helpline is available online or by phone for anyone suffering, as well as their family and friends.

Story

As many of you know I've been running a LOT recently. The reason for this is that I've signed up for the Dublin Marathon on the 28th October 2018. Running 26.2 miles is definitely a massive challenge for me and finishing it will be even more rewarding by knowing I've helped raise vital funds for an amazing cause.

Beat is the UK's eating disorder charity. Their purpose is to end the pain and suffering caused by eating disorders. They do this by working directly with sufferers and their families, and by using that experience to highlight the challenges they face and campaign for change.

Eating disorders are serious mental illnesses and there are at least 1.25 million people in the UK who suffer from an eating disorder. Anorexia nervosa has a higher mortality rate than any other mental illness but full recovery is possible and the sooner someone gets the treatment they need, the more likely they are to make a fast sustained recovery.

Beat support with:

  • Helplines and support services for sufferers and their family members
  • Training and CPD events for schools, workplaces, and primary care facilities
  • Campaign to ensure that everyone knows how to spot the early symptoms, equip healthcare professionals with the knowledge to make a fast referral, and establish funding so that everyone can get the treatment they need as quickly as possible
I would kindly ask for any donations small or large towards this amazing cause which provides such a necessary service free of charge.
