Aged 15, I came second last in the 1500 metre race on sports day (the girl who came last dropped out) and swore blind that I was never going to participate in a race again. Turns out I was wrong.
I’m running the Yorkshire Marathon in October to raise money for Emmaus Lambeth - a local charity working to end homelessness. They are doing practical things to improve people’s lives, so anything you donate will go directly to supporting people who are homeless to find stable homes and meaningful work.
Much as I’m a fan of running, I generally think the 12k downhill from work is more than far enough to justify eating lots of cake. Turns out a marathon is almost four times as far as that, so please give generously to help convince me that it definitely wasn’t a stupid idea to sign up for this, and, more importantly, because anything you give will make a real difference to the lives of people in my borough.
Thanks in advance!
Maeve
