Myeloma UK London Paris Ride 2023 · 7 September 2023 to 11 September 2023 ·

Myeloma patients, family, friends, healthcare professionals and supporters cycle 500km from London to Paris over four days to raise crucial funds for myeloma research.

Story

To those who have suspected for quite some time, I’m putting my hand up and admitting “I’M CRAZY!”

Reason for this sudden admission is I’m undertaking a 500km cycle ride from London to Paris over a 4 day period, commencing on 7th September 2023.

This will be a huge personal challenge, but all in a good cause to raise awareness and much needed funds for the research into Myeloma and in honour of my beautiful brother Andrew Farrell (Faz), who battled valiantly with this blood cancer for 5 and a half years, but sadly lost the fight in November 2022.

Andrew epitomised everything that is good in a human being and this world. He was an exceptional athlete / sportsman with so many sporting achievements and accolades. He excelled at anything he tried and it’d take a week to tell you about all his accomplishments, but here’s a few worthy of mention and to also give you a sense of the amazing man he was.

Gladiators finalist, European Brazilian Ju Jit Su champion, Gym owner and freelance Personal Trainer. He was also a Multi-Discipline Personal Trainer for Huddersfield Town Football Team, England Rugby League, Salford Red Devils, Sheffield Eagles, Huddersfield Giants and Hull KR Rugby League Teams, plus many other local Rugby League teams.

Andrew was an accomplished skier who loved Downhill Racing, in particular Giant Slalom. He was a Joiner, had been a Special Constable in West Yorkshire Police, he was a member of the magic circle and had performed as a professional magician.

I could go on and on as this is a tiny snapshot of his very diverse life, but above all the shiny stuff, he was a gentleman, son, husband, father, uncle, friend and the best little brother.

His life was taken whilst still so young, but his legacy lives on in all the people he loved, helped or came into contact with.

Your support of my craziness would be very much appreciated by sponsoring this mammoth challenge and donating whatever you can.

Your generosity goes directly to Myeloma UK and allows them to continue their own tireless challenge of finding a cure to what is currently a cancer without a cure.

Thank you, thank you, thank you - take good care of those you love.
