Story
In 2014, on her 35th Birthday, my sister received the devastaing news she had secondary bone cancer. We later came to know they could not find a primary, and the prognosis was not great. In August last year, she sadly lost her brave battle against this most pernacious of diseases, leaving behind two gorgeous sons and a huge cavern in our lives.
From the outset of this tumultous journey my sister and my family have been fortunate to receive support from Maggie's Swansea in coming to terms with a diagnosis, living with cancer, and coming to terms with the loss of a loved one.
We have come to appreciate, as important as it is to invest in cancer research for the future, we can sometimes forget the significance of providing support to patients and their families whose worlds can be turned upside down by the diagnosis of cancer, in the present.
Built alongside NHS hospitals, Maggie's Centres provide an excellent service to cancer patients and their families across the UK, providing emotional and practical support to patients and their families alike.
Weather permitting, I will be doing my Skydive on what would have been her 37th birthday. How much can change in two years, but what better way to remember her than to take part in a Skydive and raise money for a charity that has been there for our family.
Your support to help Maggie's provide the support to the countless families across the UK whose lives are turned upsidedown by Caner is hugely appreciated. Thank you!
