I hope you are all well and safe. 

It is again this time of the year, wintertime. Some of us love the cold weather and some of us wish summer will come soon again. The reality is that the winter weather is kicking in and the cold weather is distracting our daily life routine. Although we are still trying to grasp our current situation with the COVID's new variant Omicron, we can count ourselves still lucky and privileged people. We can live in surroundings where we don't need to think about displacement, war and conflict in comparison to other countries of the world such as Afghanistan. 

Displacement and conflict have struck Afghanistan into crisis. Thousands of families are currently at risk, with the threat of nationwide poverty looming. Among those at risk are 3.2 million children under five, who are expected to suffer from acute malnutrition by the end of the year. More than 600,000 Afghans have been displaced this year, 80 per cent of which are women and children. The only shelter available to some is a tent, with no adequate protection, all of which is about to worsen in the coming winter months. The elderly who have no way of income and self-sustenance have no means of acquiring food, water, and a warm roof over their heads.

As a community, we must take action and help those with nowhere to turn. From only £25 you can provide one person with a winter bundle, this includes a blanket, socks and a shawl. 

However, every little helps. You can contribute within your own limits and budget, so don't be afraid to donate. Let us show the world that the life of our fellow human beings matter and we care about each other wherever we are.
