‘The worst man-made humanitarian crisis of our time’ – UN.

The war in Yemen has turned a poor country into a humanitarian catastrophe. Currently, over 22 million Yemeni families lack access to food, health care and safe water and can only rely on food aid alone. This number is only set to rise. Yemen is facing a major humanitarian crisis. A devastating conflict has left children and families in urgent need of food, water and medical supplies.

Benefit Mankind are concerned that the spread of coronavirus in Yemen is likely to be devastating. Only one in three people have access to running water, very few people have soap, and many healthcare facilities are closed or only able to provide a very basic service. We are appealing for hygiene kits and food aid at the cost of £50 which will benefit a family for a month.

Water Crisis

in one of the world’s most water-scarce countries, the conflict has had a strong impact on the access to water and adequate sanitation services for the Yemeni people. In a country where over 20 million people are in urgent need of water, sanitation and hygiene (WASH) assistance, access to clean and safe drinking water remains crucial for the good health and survival of children and their caregivers.

WASH needs remain substantially high due to the increasing number of displaced people as a result of the escalation of conflict in the whole country; we at Benefit Mankind with partners are delivering fresh clean water in Yemen, 30,000 litres of water costs just £150.

MEDICAL NEEDs

The outbreak of cholera in Yemen infected a staggering million people. Despite being a completely treatable disease, unfortunately, thousands of people died from the disease. In addition to cholera, other contagious diseases such as diphtheria are spreading in the country. In a country where supplies and medical care are scarce, a lack of access to drinking water doesn’t bode well for the ongoing health crisis.

To provide medical support kindly donate £50 which will be utilised towards these urgent medical needs
