UCD Med Week 2021 - Maia · 19 February 2021 ·
Hi Everyone!
This year for UCD Med Week 2021, we have chosen to raise some much needed funds for the Bone Marrow for Leukemia Trust. This is an amazing organization that is dedicated to supporting people who have leukaemia, lymphoma or myeloma who need stem cell transplants in Ireland. It provides apartments where patients can comfortably stay post-operatively, supports the running of the haematology department in St. James’ Hospital and funds labs which undertake cutting edge clinical research and drug development.
For my MedWeek challenge I will take to the cold, wintery Irish sea in my hospital chic (scrubs, white coat, stethoscope, mask, visor etc.) to take a ride in an inflatable donut while being towed by a high speed boat across Dublin Bay (P.S Don’t tell my Granny!). Photo and video evidence will be posted on the UCD Medical Society Instagram as well as my own social media for you all to see.
MedWeek is a very important week in every medical student’s calendar in UCD and as the Treasurer of the Medical Society this year, I am delighted that we have been able to go ahead with it within government COVID-19 guidelines.
All donations are greatly appreciated and will go directly to the Bone Marrow for Leukemia Trust.
Thank you in advance for your generosity!
Maïa
