Mount Snowdon · 23 August 2017
Myself and 9 of my colleagues are climbing Mount Snowdon on 23rd August, what might seem easy for some is a challenge for others and this is where we all need as much support as possible to reach our target of £500. Every penny counts so please support me and my John Lewis team to hit and exceed this target and allow us to give back to a charity that will enable them to continue to do their amazing work.
I am a section manager at John Lewis in Birmingham, and after a conversation with a colleague at work we talked about how we would both love to get involved and raise money for a charity, we both had very different charities we wanted to support for very different reasons but wanted to be able to give back to the ones that do so much to help and support others.
My auntie was diagnosed with breast cancer and sadly passed away after an 18 month battle at the age of 31. She had to have a mastectomy which completely knocked her confidence, at the time I didn't know about this charity and now that I do, completely admire their work. Knitted Knockers have used our community hub in branch to continuously work on their knitted and crochet prosthesis for women who have undergone a mastectomy, and this is where I first heard of their work. What they do for cancer patients who in unfortunate situations have to go through a mastectomy to try and regain that confidence and make it more comfortable for them is amazing work. If i had known about Knitted Knockers at the time I would definitely have recommended them to her.
She may not be around today, but I have seen how their work has helped and supported so many. And this is why I am lucky to have a team of colleagues at work who are helping me raise money for this amazing charity that will continue to support and help others along the way.
Thank you for your support and to my colleagues for going on this journey with me.
