Story
International Service empowers women, disabled people, children and young people to access their rights in developing countries across the world. They work to secure and protect human rights, in order to enact positive and long lasting change, to break a cycle of poverty and inequality.
Malawi is one of the world's least developed countries. Young people aged 5-24 make up 47% of the country's population, which is why the work International Service does to educate and empower young people, and indeed the wider community, is so vital.
As part of my year out before heading off to LSE to study as an undergraduate, I am undertaking a volunteering placement in Malawi, from 12th February-22nd April, to make a positive impact overseas and find out more about international development. I will be working with a group of volunteers from both the UK and Malawi.
The money donated won't go toward my flights or accommodation, as I will be staying with a host family in Malawi, and ICS is mostly funded by the government. However, volunteers are asked to raise £800, to support International Service in their vital work to engage young people in overseas development.
Any donation will be greatly appreciated, however small.
