Story

Thank you for taking time to read this.

I'm a 69 year old retired Methodist minister from Hereford, running my 19th. marathon in 18 months in the Virgin London Marathon on 25th April, 2010.

I invite you to please consider sponsoring me to help the lives of vulnerable children and young people.

I ran my first marathon in Jersey, Channel Islands, when I was 45 yrs old.  Twenty-two years later, in Portland, Oregon, USA, I ran my second marathon, and, much to my surprise was only 8 minutes slower.  I caught the marathon bug and signed up for 7 coastal trail marathons with EnduranceLife.com, based in the West Country.  I didn’t realize at the time they are at least 25% tougher than a road marathon.  I'm told that less than 100 runners in the UK completed 7 of the toughest marathons in the world - the 7x7x7 challenge – 7 trail marathons in 7 months in 7 different locations:  Dorset, the Gower, Portland Bill, South Devon, Pembrokeshire, Cornwall, and the toughest of the lot, Exmoor.  I'm a member of Wye Valley runners.

After my trail runs I ran marathons in Edinburgh, the North Sea Beach Marathon in Denmark  (the only beach marathon in the world, where I was the only runner from the UK and where I was interviewed and filmed by the BBC for the Coast series), Guernsey, Jersey, Snowdonia, Cornwall, the Gower, Gloucester, and south Devon.  My next trail marathon is in Pembrokeshire.  Then it’s London, which I expect to complete in about 4:40.

If you see any Action For Children runners at the event, or on TV, on April 25th. please give us a wave and an encouraging cheer!
