Those of you who know me are aware I am recovering from a major operation for bowel cancer earlier this year. I very much appreciated the many messages of support I have received from around the world including GKN friends and colleagues.

During my enforced absence from work I have determined to make positive use of the time, and where possible to benefit others, so that something positive comes from my illness. As the GKN representative to the local JDRF committee, which I chair, taking part in this years "Walk to Cure Diabetes" is high on my list. I inviteyou to support me, and through me to enhance the work to find a cure for diabetes which afflicts so many children, apart from adults.
