I'm raising funds for Age Concern Salford mainly because of the great work they do to help people suffering from dementia and their families/carers.  I am fortunate because no one in my family suffers from dementia but I've seen at first hand the devastating affect dementia can have on the sufferer, their family and the health service through my work as a patient support volunteer at Salford Royal.

Dementia is a growing problem and soon there will be over 1 million sufferers in the UK.  It is not just a case of growing old as many people think.  Therefore it is vital to support any organisation which can offer support to people with the illness and provide some respite for their carers and the health service.

I'm also raising funds offline for my local church - St Mary's in Ellenbrook.
