40,000 for 40 years

OSARCC Firewalk · 23 November 2019 ·
On 31st December 2019 OSARCC turns 40. We're hoping to raise £40,000 over the next 12 months to help sustain and grow our vital services. Since our launch as a helpline service in 1979 we've grown to providing a large range of free, confidential services to survivors across Oxfordshire.
I’m at a stage in my life where I know I need to confront my past, heal and move on. I feel that doing this firewalk will symbolically help me to finally do this. I can longer remain trapped in this cycle of punishing myself for the actions of others . I need to take my power back ...and rise up!
As a young child I was sexually abused by a family “friend” from the age of 4 to the last incident at 12.
At 17 I was raped in Thailand by a Thai kick-boxer.
If you know the Thai islands at all then you will know how corrupt it is and going to the police was not an option . I am very grateful to live in a country where I could do that now and no matter what people say I am grateful to have a police service to turn to.
I hope that doing this propels me into finally reporting my childhood abuser and being heard and hopefully finally bring some peace into my heart. Enough of my life has been taken up by this and it’s important that I can finally move forward and find peace and hopefully one day be able to share authentic intimacy with someone. He robbed my past I can’t let him ruin my future
Much love and gratitude for any and all donations
It is so sad that we even need this service but it’s vital so let’s keep it going xxxx
