Eating disorders are a mental illness that often aren't recognised. They can happen to anyone or any family and it can be a really confusing situation to understand if you're unfamiliar with mental health. Without the right support, eating disorders can have a devastating effect on not only the physical and mental health of an individual, but also their relationships, work and family life.
For those of you who haven't heard of Rharian Fields, it's the dedicated eating disorder unit based at Grimsby Hospital, providing one-to-one treatment and care in an environment that is safe, supportive and personal.
Anyone who knows me and my family will understand why Rharian Fields is important to me. I have seen first hand the impact eating disorders can have on a family, and in turn, the excellent work and care that goes into treating and supporting a patient, which is why I'm passionate about fundraising for the unit.
Rharian Fields is currently massively underfunded by the NHS, with only 9 inpatient beds available to treat those in the whole of our region who need overnight care. I'm fundraising through the Gardener Hill Foundation so anything I raise can be given straight to Rharian Fields.
Any donation big or small would be hugely appreciated. Thank you so much for taking the time to read my page! :-)
Love, Mandy x
