Story

Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. Donating through JustGiving is simple, fast and totally secure.

Thank you for visiting my just giving page! So if you know me, you know I like a little run. A 5K here and there, getting a medal - feeling amazing. 🥰

However, Recent events have got me thinking.

My friends Chelsey and TJ had their baby Joshua at 28 weeks and of course I felt like I wanted to do something to help. Obviously I’m not a doctor I’m a teacher! So there isn’t very much I can do to help, I can be at the end of the phone, I can say all the right things and give positive messages, send lovely quotes and emojis. But ultimately there’s just not much I can do to help.

But I was mistaken, there is! Although little Joshua started his journey at The John Radcliffe  hospital in Oxford he is now under the care of SCBU in Swindon. Where they will help him grow and develop until he can come home to his amazing parents. This is where I can help and I can use my little running obsession and help Chelsey, TJ and baby Joshua at the same time. With people signing up to the Swindon half I’ve always thought before ‘God that’s a long way!’ Not for me!   But this time round I thought No!

No! 😮

I’m going to push myself, I’m going to put myself out of my comfort zone and really stretch myself emotionally, mentally physically and I’m going to do the Swindon half marathon and while I’m doing it I’m gonna raise money for the SCBU at the GWH for their incubator appeal. This is raising money for much-needed state-of-the-art equipment that will help our prem babies. Keep them safe and warm in conditions mirroring mummy’s tummy but also providing any much needed medical care.  Chelsey and TJ aren’t the only ones of my friends that have needed the support of the GWH special care baby unit.

So although personally I have never needed the expertise, strength and love of this very special department at the GWH many people that I care about have. If that means that I have to put myself through a little bit mental and physical pain for a couple of hours one Sunday morning in September I’m prepared to do that!  If I’m prepared to do that, would you be prepared to sponsor me?

Thank  you in advance all my love Mandy

PS - Please come and cheer me on,  I’ll need a little bit of encouragement on the day xx
