Steve and I have decided to use the opportunity of our 'big birthdays' to raise some funds for Guildford Samaritans, which as you all know is a cause very dear to my heart.  It costs around £40,000 a year to run the Guildford Branch and every year this money has to be raised from scratch by fundraising activities organised by the branch.  This is no mean feat and in these days of the credit crunch we are finding that fund raising is becoming more and more difficult. 

You may recall that two years ago Guildford Samaritans organised a 24 hour, 50 mile team walking challenge along the Pilgrims way.  Steve and I took part and our team achieved the distance in 17 and a half hours with Steve and I walking the full 50 miles!  This year we will once again be undertaking the 50 mile team walking challenge, taking place on the weekend after our party!  The walk will be from Winchester to Guildford along the St Swithun’s Way on the 25th and 26th July 2009.
