Story
We are climbing Kilimanjaro from July 22-29 as a family, my husband Anurag Golash consultant urologist at Royal Stoke Hospital and two teenage(18 & 16) kids. We wanted to do something which is a significant challenge for all of us. We chose Kilimanjaro as it’s a climb where you don’t need any experience of mountaineering rather it is something you can train for. The challenge is to climb 5895 metres high peak, by walking 6-8 miles up to 8 hours a day for 7 days. We are all training hard My husband is now walking to work, treadmill is in now in front of tele to get training in and I have joined gym (for the first time) to build up the stamina. However there is no training for things like altitude sickness, digging holes to go to toilet and not being able to have a shower for eight days whilst we do the challenge- we are going to take a lot of baby wipes”. It’s going to be tough especially the summit climb starting at midnight is going to be all mental strength but doing it for the reason I am passionate about will give me the motivation not to give up when it gets tough.
Thank you very much for me helping me raise money for this very worthy cause.
