As a challenge I am attempting to climb with four other members of my family (my very supportive wife, my two delightful sons & my wonderful younger brother) lovingly known as "Team SHIHN". While considering this project a few months ago I came to the conclusion that this event needed to be dedicated to someone very special in the lives of our small close nit family. That person being non other than our beloved Mother, the STANDARD-BEARER for Team Shihn.  Ascent of the mountain begins on the 2nd of September 2009 with descent no earlier than the 10^th (hopefully!!!). I will keep a photographic diary of the climb to show you how I fared in my attempt to reach the peak. I assure you I will give it my all in trying to conquer the ‘big hill’ – by the way that is what I am telling myself it really is, as this is a personal challenge to myself.

I thought some good should come out of this effort so I am raising money for Diabetes , a charity for people (young and old) with diabetes, their families, friends and carers. Diabetes impacts many people all over the world and has directly impacted my family's life through the loss of my mother eleven years ago,  a massive void left in my life which does not diminish.

I have been torturing (sorry I meant training) for a few months now, trying to strengthen my legs to adequately carry my ‘size zero’ body up the hill. I do hope they are up to the job. In the unlikely event of failure of said appendages, I thank you in advance for your generous donations.
