The Rotary club works to raise funds through charity events which we then use to help in the Gedling area. This year we are supporting the food banks and under the current climate they need all the help we can give. This year we cannot do our usual door collections but Santa will still tour the area. Therefore we are looking to raise funds through this page.

Story

Over the last year most of us will have a relative or know someone who is suffering from this debilitating disease. These people and their carers need support more than ever.

For ten years now our Club has had a tradition of assisting The Alzheimer’s Society with providing volunteers at Gedling Memory Café.  We have also helped develop the Nottingham Memory Walk into a major fund raising event for research into Alzheimer’s disease and provide support for those with the disease and their carers.  Most volunteer walkers do so in memory of a relative or friend.  We do so in memory of friends, family and those we have known at the Gedling Memory Café.

This year the Memory Walk must take a different form from the annual mass walk around Wollaton Park.  Walkers need to design their own Memory Walk assisted by the Alzheimer’s Memory Walk organisers.

Members of the club will walk 10km around the outskirts of Calverton avoiding roads where possible.  This will take place on 18th March. We will be socially distanced and using our Rotary Risk Assessment and the route has been thoroughly reconnoitred.
