Marathon Charity Walk · 27 January 2018

Our aim is to support children with multi-sensory impairments and physical difficulties. We support children attending The Llewellyn School by providing the right tools to enable each child to thrive.

Story

On the 27th January 2018 a group of us will be attempting to walk the 25+ mile course to raise funds for Louie's Helping Hands charity. Some of us are well into our seventies!

We will set off at 7.30am and we expect to finish between 2 and 4pm.

Louie's Helping Hands supports the children with multi-sensory impairments and complex physical & medical conditions who attend The Llewellyn School & Nursery, a new small independent school started after the sudden closure of the 'Deaf' school in Margate 2015. Many of these children were left without a school provision due to their complex medical conditions. Louie's Helping Hands provides valuable therapies to the children such as Hydrotherapy, Soft play, Music therapy and Art therapy. Combined regularly these therapies all helps to increase confidence, independence and help develop the children's social interaction, enabling them to form friendships with peers. Not to mention it also has huge medical benefits, it helps to improve core and muscle strength and also posture, which has lead to several pupils now to taking their 1st steps. The school has been so successful the charity are now also fundraising to help relocate and build a new school, as they have out grown the existing one currently set up in Sara Llewellyn's ( one of the mothers who's son was left without a school provision for almost two years) home.
