On the 17th October 2014 we received the devastating news that a close friend and colleague, Mike Thompson, had passed away.

Mike was the most caring, friendly and all round lovely person you could ever meet. He was always there with a smile for those who needed him and was up for anything, especially if it involved a curry and a beer!

Suicide is the greatest cause of death for young adults, a harrowing fact that people pay far too little attention to, ourselves included, until it affects someone close to you. Therefore a group of us from Mike's Deloitte intake will be completing the Budapest half marathon on 13th September 2015 to raise money for the James Wentworth-Stanley Memorial Fund. The charity have been a great comfort to Mike's family both in the immediate aftermath and are continuing to be of great support now. This charity was set up following the loss of James, another loved, bright and successful young person; which is remarkably similar and shocking. Budapest holds a special place in our hearts after Mike organised a group trip there to celebrate completing our exams in November 2013. He was in the process of organising a return holiday for 2015 and so we felt this was the event to complete. However, if he knew we were attempting a half marathon he would probably have laughed in our faces and waited for us in a dirty pub... From the training so far that would definitely be the preferred option!
