Virgin London Marathon 2010 · 25 April 2010 ·

No young person should feel alone. At Break, we support young people in, around and beyond care. Through fostering, homes, mentoring and wellbeing support. We help build confidence, create strong relationships, and will always be there with lifelong support and love. Put simply, we care differently.

Story

London Marathon completed in 4 hours 37mins.  A fantastic day and one we will certainly remember for a long time.  Thankyou for everyone's support and messages! A big thankyou to our little gang of supporters on the day.  Everyone of you helped us cross that line and boy were we hurting at the end!

Whether it was watching the London Marathon in 2009 and being inspired by so many amazing people or the fact that the big 30 is nearly upon us (already upon Jon), myself and Mark have taken up the challenge of completing the London Marathon on 25th April 2010.  We are delighted to be running in aid of our local charity - Break

Break is a Norfolk based charity that has been helping vulnerable people in your local community for over 40 years - giving them a break to improve their lives, and break the cycle of despair.  The following are just some of the examples of how your money can help.

£50 will provide a day out for the children in one of Breaks children's homes - giving them new experiences and opportunities to build confidence and self esteem

£200 pays towards a supervised fun day out on a specially adapted boat on the Norfolk Broads for disabled children or adults of all ages to enjoy

£1,000 will contribute towards a week's supported traditional seaside holiday for a child with severe learning disabilities

Both myself and Mark will be truely grateful for your donation no matter how small.   We are coming to the end of our training plans which have included cold, rain, snow, hail, wind, ice, you name it we've run in it! We hope to finish in around 4 hours.  We expect it to be a challenge to not only complete the race in this time but also raise the total we have set ourselves.

Training races completed as follows:

Feb 21st Adnams Great East Run (20k) Bungay - Both me and Will ran this and had the pleasure of rain, wind, hail & snow, perhaps this spurred us on to finish quicker but both completed in 1h 48:09.  Very respectable time.

Feb 28th Reedham 10 miler - Non stop rain! Could have swam it.  Jon completed in 1h 23:07

March 7th Wymondham 20 miler - A bright sunny day however an extremely hard run.  Jon completed in 2hr 56 and boy was i hurting at the end.

March 21st Broadland Half Marathon - A lovely sunny day and steady run, Jon completed in 1 h 50.

* A huge thankyou to Bill Stott and all the crew members at Shell who have kindly donated us £500 we can't say thankyou enough!

** Many thanks to everyone that popped some money in my collection bucket at Tim and Raggy's engagement party*

*** Thankyou to everyone in Morrison's Norwich who donated money to us on Thursday 18th Feb & Friday 9th April and helped us raise around £700, including £10 from Fraser Forster (now our favourite goalie of all time).  Look out for us again in Morrison's on Friday April 9th as well as in the pubs & bars of Norwich on Saturday 10th April. ***

**** Finally thankyou to everyone in the pubs/bars of Norwich that we visited on Satuarday April 10th helping us to raise £328****

Thank You!!!
