Story
Thank you for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page. I am raising money for the fantastic St Luke's Hospice in Sheffield which gives care and support to patients and their families through some of the most challenging times of their lives.
In Jan 2022 my world was turned upside down when my mum was diagnosed with stage 4 cancer. Sadly, despite several chemo regimens, emergency surgery followed by stint in ITU and yet more chemo and radiotherapy, she passed away peacefully at home earlier in June this year. The support and care of the staff at St Luke's made a truly positive difference to me and my mum during her last days of life. Thanks to them and the fantastic community services we have available they could refer us to, my mum was kept comfortable in her preferred place, enabling me to stay by her side all the way through her journey.
St Luke's receives less than a third of it's funding through the NHS and to continue it's incredible service, as many people as possible making even a small donation really does make all the difference. I know I'm not alone in this, terminal illness impacts so many of our families and loved ones, however services like this make those times a little more bearable and dignified.
And, although I'm a pretty amateur runner, I am determined to challenge myself for a great cause! Thank you in advance for any support you can give.
