Thanks for taking the time to visit my JustGiving page.
St Elizabeth Hospice is a local hospice which does amazing work supporting not just those who are ill, but their families too. It costs £12.9 million a year to run the hospice, with 70% having to be raised through donations and fundraising.
My amazing, strong, determined mum battled lung cancer for a few years, and constantly amazed and inspired me with her positive attitude. When she was first diagnosed, the prognosis was extremely poor, but she was lucky enough to be offered immunotherapy and this gave us some more precious years with her. Towards the end, mum went into St Elizabeth Hospice for a month before she sadly passed away in Nov 2020. Thankfully, myself and the close family were able to spend the last 4 days with her, by her side 24/7. The staff at the hospice were exceptional, taking great care of my mum but also supporting all of us, both physically and emotionally. Given the Covid restrictions at the time, this was even more remarkable and appreciated. I wanted to fundraise for them to give a little something back, and to say a huge thank you.
Due to a second knee surgery and various reasons, I will be jeffing (structured run/walk, with probably more walking and some crawling!) the marathon rather than straight running. However, it has been on my bucket list for years so just finishing it will be extremely special to me.
