Edinburgh Marathon 2023 · 28 May 2023 ·

Bipolar Scotland is a user led mental health charity. We offer information and support and are the only organisation in Scotland who provide self help groups and self management training specific to bipolar disorder.

Story

So I foolishly said I would run a marathon for charity. Well with only weeks to go I can confirm that 26 miles or 44km is actually quite a long way. I only started running last year using the NHS couch to 5k app. It did exactly what it says on the tin, got me off the sofa and running, (well kind of a slow jog or fast walk to start with but here I am)

Fitness can have a massive beneficial impact on mental health. I know I have not been at my best when I have not exercised for long periods of time (let's be honest heading out in the dark over winter is never that appealing). However I thought I would raise funds for Bipolar Scotland so decided to enter a MARATHON!

Bipolar Scotland is a small but amazing charity making a huge difference to people's mental health across Scotland every day. I'd be delighted if you would support me. Bipolar is estimated to affect ~2% of the population, that's one in every 50. So no doubt you will know or have met someone with Bipolar. So please help me help them by donating and giving me a true reason to smile even when Ill be feeling like a very old person the day after the event.
