Story
I have had Nystagmus since I was born and have seen some of the effects it had on my parents when I was growing up with, at the time a lack of information and support. Nystagmus can vary drastically in how much it affects a person with a key area affecting me being an inability to drive. I hope that any money I raise goes towards a better understanding of the condition especially for new parents. Even with limited knowledge about my sight my mother always empowered me to try new things, even if she was unsure so long as I felt confident. I feel that the more understanding there is through the right research the more likely parents will be empowered to do the same with their children in addition to potentially expanding the current treatment options.
Eye to Eye raises funds for pioneering research into eye disorders. We aim to raise over £150,000 towards areas of eye research such as glaucoma, the leading cause of irreversible blindness worldwide, and age-related macular degeneration, the main cause of blindness in adults aged over 60 in the western world. In the five years since Eye to Eye began, donations raised have helped support vital research projects including studies exploring the genetics of keratoconus and the impact of diabetic retinopathy on the structure and function of the eye.
