Brain Tumour Research is the leading voice of the brain tumour community and focused on finding a cure for all types of brain tumours. We are campaigning to increase the national investment in research to £35 million per year and funding sustainable Centres of Excellence across the UK.

Story

3 years ago my sister Carlie was diagnosed with an aggressive form of breast cancer.  She underwent 21 rounds of chemotherapy (that’s over a year!) and 3 weeks of radiotherapy, then a mastectomy…she felt that she'd beaten it.

After a few months of persistent headaches at the start of 2021, Carlie visited the GP...various tests and investigations revealed a large tumour in her brain - secondary breast cancer. Fast forward 3 months and she'd had brain surgery to remove it and was recovering well. Things were looking up again and Carlie was enjoying life with family and friends.

However,  a week before Christmas 2021, the follow-up scans from the surgery showed that cancer had returned. She had several more tumours in her brain.

My sisters are now on a year-long mission to raise the profile of brain tumour research, increase funding and awareness -  whilst getting fit and making fun memories.

They plan to raise £27,400 by 31st December 2022 as this amount will fund just 10 days of brain tumour research.

This page is my contribution to the total. I've always been a sprinter and never sign up to these events normally so please, if you can, donate to the cause.
