Story

Hello,

Calling all Shinty and Camogie Players and Friends; Past, Present and Future.

I hope you are doing well and keeping as busy as you can during lockdown.

As you may know International Women's Day is coming up on March the 8th and the WCA would like to invite you, your team, family and friends to participate in a Fundraising Challenge.

Inspired by a dear friend of shinty who is currently being supported by the Charity, we have chosen to donate all funds raised to Macmillan - we know this is a charity that will be important to so many women in shinty.

The Challenge will be called "March in March". We ask you to donate to participate, (suggested donation 10 pounds per person but we are grateful for whatever you can afford, and every penny will help ). We also encourage you to share the donation link with family and friends who would like to donate but cannot participate.

The WCA will be completing the distance from Aberdour (Our friend’s Shinty Club) to Glenullen, Co. Derry (Her GAA club) - 12 of us on March 7th; that's 217 miles. We will encourage all kinds of exercise to be included: walk, run, cycle, kayak, ski and anything that can be recorded (for proof that you did it 😉). We have also included an exercise conversion sheet so if you do some home workout for example that can be converted to miles.

There are a few options for getting involved listed below:

1 - As a club complete the accumulative total of miles from your club to Glenullen Co. Derry. You can do this on the Day of the 8th, over the weekend 6th-7th, over the week commencing 8th or throughout the month of March.

2 - The more people in your team the less miles you have to do, however for those competitive folk amongst us you might want to have 2 or more teams in your club and challenge each other to see who can do it the fastest.

3 - If you are feeling very brave and needing a challenge you can take on all the miles yourself or with a few friends and do the distance from your club/home to Glenullen throughout the month of March.

Please let us know by Feb 28th if you or your club would like to participate and which option you will select.

Happy Exercising
