This year I have much to celebrate! My 40th birthday and 8 years since I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Being diagnosed with breast cancer was devastating, especially with 2 young children to bring up and being only 32 at the time. However, 8 years on, having undergone 2 lots of surgery and treatments, I now have another beautiful boy and the future looks bright. I was very lucky to have caught my cancer early.
I have chosen to do this Trek because I wanted to mark my 40th with a big event and I wanted to recognise the charity that was my lifeline throughout my experience of breast cancer. I have been supporting Breast Cancer Care in many ways over the last few years, most importantly for me, by being a Helpline Volunteer and Peer Supporter. As a young woman diagnosed with breast cancer, it was really important for me to be able to speak to someone of my age who had been there already, so that is what I do now. Via the telephone, I offer practical and emotional support to other women who are going through breast cancer.
My target is to raise £2,500 by April. I will be funding the cost of the trip myself, so every penny that you donate will go directly to Breast Cancer Care. If it's not asking too much, I would really appreciate it if you could make your donation before I do the Trek as most of the money needs to be in before I go!
Thank you so much for visiting my fundraising page. Please dig deep and sponsor me online. Donating through this site is simple, fast and totally secure. It is also the most efficient way to sponsor me: Breast Cancer Care will receive your money faster and, if you are a UK taxpayer, an extra 28% in tax will be added to your gift at no cost to you. So please go ahead and do it now! Many thanks for your support. I'll let you know how it all went on my return.
