With 7 colleagues at Horizon Platforms, we will be completing the National 3 Peaks Challenge in order to raise money for the company's chosen charity, Cancer Research UK.

During my 38 years of life, I have experienced many cases where family and friends have been severely affected by cancer in some shape or form. Close to home, both my grandfather and uncle have both suffered with cancer, but fortunately are still with us. 

However I have lost some family members to this disease. My uncle Kevin was taken from us many years ago, when I was in my early teens, but I still remember he devastation this caused to his young family. Attending Auntie Janet and Uncle Kevin's wedding at their house because he was too ill to leave home will live with me forever. 

Only last year, my mum's Auntie Pauline, who will live in my memories for her larger than life personality and constant jovial antics, died last year after she was diagnosed with cancer. There are more family members who I have lost to this awful disease, so it feels like it will be worth the pain to raise some money with my work family to help us a species kick cancer into touch!
