Story

In September 2019 I ran my first half marathon (Great East Run), on behalf of the Jess Grant Celebration Charity.

Since then, running has become part of my life. I have run several half marathons including London Landmarks in August 2021 and regularly run half marathon distance as social runs with my local running club, Kesgrave Kruisers.

Therefore, I needed a new challenge, so applied for the London Marathon ballot as I have always wanted to run this race ever since seeing it on the TV, like many runners and Kruisers, I was unsuccessful.

However not to be knocked back and still be part of the event, Rick Phillips and I decided that we would enter the Virtual London Marathon instead, which we will run locally around Kesgrave and Martlesham in the form of 4 x 6.6 mile loops on the 2nd October which coincidentally would have been Jess’ 20th birthday.

In memory of Jess, the charity was set up in 2018 by Jess' mum and dad to raise money to support the provision of music therapy for children suffering from medical conditions. This is a charity very dear to my heart as I work with Kevin and have known the Grants for many years and they were a local family to Grange Farm, Kesgrave and part of the local community.
