We are raising money in memory of my dear friend Jimmy Dewhirst's niece Grace. She was diagnosed with a tumour on her kidney just 3 weeks before she died after developing abdominal pain. Initially it was thought to be a Wilms tumour, but the day before she died, histology showed it to be a highly aggressive rhabdoid tumour which was untreatable. She died in front of Jimmy in her parents' arms in the Cancer unit at Birmingham Childrens' Hospital. In the 3 short days there, she received amazing care, but the ward and facilities are hugely in need of updating to help make such poorly children's' journeys that little more comfortable. Jimmy & all the family have been so grateful that Grace could travel to Worcester Acorns Childrens' Hospice after she passed away. Here she was able to rest while everyone came to terms with events, until her funeral in November. The pastoral care that the family was given by the staff has made their journey that little more bearable. The hospice is run on entirely charitable grounds, and as such needs as much support as possible. Any donations to either charity would be appreciated.
