Virgin London Marathon 2012 · 22 April 2012 ·

We’re the UK’s leading bowel cancer charity. We’re determined to save lives and improve the quality of life of everyone affected by bowel cancer. Our vision is a future where nobody dies of the disease.

Story

I ran the London marathon last year to raise money for Bowel Cancer UK in memory of my wonderful Dad, Tim, and I am doing the same this year. Training somehow seems almost more challenging he second time round!

As many of you will know, my Dad died after a short but brave battle with Bowel Cancer in April 2010. Dad only started to get the symptoms once the disease had matured and spread, and by the time he was diagnosed, it was too late.

Bowel Cancer UK works tirelessly to raise awareness of the disease, and to promote screening for bowel cancer, such that the disease can be discovered early when the chances of successful treatment are very high. I am running to particularly promote awareness of screening such the other families may avoid what my mum Linda, my brother Ross and I have gone through.

I am very happy my brother will be running with me... I hope I can keep up!
