Story
Being an asylum seeker is hard. People have to escape from their own countries for many reasons - war, repressive regimes, persecution for belonging to the wrong religion or simply being homosexual. They have travelled thousands of miles across difficult terrain, often at the mercy of people smugglers. Then they arrived in a country that can be unwelcoming. But some find a place where people smile, help them with English, help to navigate the asylum system and to understand UK culture. Somewhere they feel they belong: Conversation Club Leeds.
