Story
Hello, My name is Margaret and I was diagnosed with Breast Cancer during the first lockdown of 2020. I found my lump (or Bishop Brennan as I like to call it) one night whilst watching TV. I thought nothing of it and I rung the Drs on the Monday and she said the same and they were not seeing people because of covid. A fortnight later the (BB) lump was still there. I called the Drs again and this time I got seen and a referral made. I had tests at the Breast Clinic a week later and after tests, I was told it was "looking highly likely" it was breast Cancer. I felt like my world has collapsed there and then. I then had to go back in a weeks time for confirmation and test results, and yes you guessed it!!!!!
I was booked in for surgery on May 11th 2020 and I had a lumpectomy and lymph node removal. My results from these that my cancer was Eastrogen positive, but HER2 negative. I was told I would need radiotherapy and go on to medication. I had to wait to see if I needed chemo. A month later, I saw the Oncologist, who told me I needed chemo, along with radiotherapy. I had 10 rounds of radiotherapy first and then 6 sessions of chemotherapy. After treatment I have been placed on medication in which I will have to take for a least 5 years or maybe 10.
During lockdown and my sick leave I made hearts for a little support group called Worcestershire Hearts of Joy and this kept me sane throughout. I also have the love and support of my wonderful boyfriend Paul Brogden, who is also doing the challenges I have set with me. He has been a tremendous support through all this, plus my friends and family too.
I will be undertaking this year a virtual half in June, London Landmarks Half in August, Great North Run and London virtual Marathon. I have took up running since 2014, albeit very slowly.
I will also be selling handmade hearts and ribbons too.
Please sponsor and donate to my cause.
Thank you.
